My previous post of Samson, Mark and Lisa's new puppy got a lot of views, so I thought I'd put together some more of the video I took that night. Here's a second installment. I've invited them all to our house so I can take some footage of him and see how much he's grown in a couple of weeks.

The Virtues of Laziness

I am of the opinion that laziness is a good thing. It makes you invent ingenious solutions and automations that you might otherwise never have thought of. Some examples:

Laziness is what what drove Henry Ford to invent the automobile.
Laziness is why someone (who?) invented RSS feeds.
Laziness is why we have luggage with wheels.
Laziness is why we have cars with rear-window defrosters.
Laziness is why we have cars with power windows, remote mirrors and heated seats.
Laziness is why we have higher level languages like C# and Java.
Laziness is why we have washing machines, driers, garbage disposers and dishwashers.
Laziness is why we have differential and integral calculus.
Laziness is why we have NeverLost.
Laziness is why we have PermanentPress clothes.
Laziness is why we have calculators.
Laziness is why we have central heat. hot water and indoor plumbing.

Conclusion: Laziness is good thing. :)

Mark and Lisa's new Golden puppy

Our friends Mark and Lisa just got a new Golden Retriever puppy.  They lost their sweet old Golden Emma a few months ago to old age, and they'd been looking for a new puppy to fill the void.  As you'll hear Mark say, "We went to a party and came home with a puppy."  We used to have a Golden, too, so we're very partial to them, and we couldn't wait to visit and meet Sampson.  There is nothing in the world as cute a Golden puppy, and Sam proves it once again.  We came bearing gifts, a little "chew man" which he took right to.  Enjoy.

The people have (not) spoken

It's been a couple of days, and no one (like noooo one) has left a comment on the Mystic Pizza post. So as I expected, people aren't really too interested in that topic. And to quote Yogi Berra, "If the people don't want to come to the ball park, how can you stop 'em?"

Meanwhile the "Alternative Shingle Treatments" video continues to get several hits a day. Maybe because of the Muddy Waters sound track, or the awesome sunset I just happened to catch? I'd love to know why, if you can spare a moment to leave a comment.

Someone pointed out to me that some people may be mistakenly going to the shingle treatments post because they think it's about alternative ways to remedy that most painful and uncomfortable illness, shingles. But alas, they'll be disappointed because it's about how to flare out siding shingles on your new house.

And on that other topic about the people speaking. Hot Damn! We threw the bastards out! In the House and the Senate, no less. Adios, Rumsfeld, so long Santori, hasta la vista, Hastert. See ya, wouldn't want to be ya!

Mystic Pizza... want more?

I need some help from all of you. I'm trying to decide whether I should put more effort into getting video and editing up a vlog entry on the movie Mystic Pizza.  Please read on, watch the clip, and then comment on whether you'd like to see more.  I'm undecided.

You see,  I live close to the village of Mystic, Connecticut.  One of its claims to fame is that it was the location for the popular 80s film, Mystic Pizza, which starred Julia Roberts in the role of Daisy Arujo. This gig was her breakout role and played a big part in launching her film career.

From watching the film, I've identified several nearby places that were used as filming locations.  Not surprisingly, most of them aren't actually in Mystic, but in nearby towns.  I thought people might be interested to see these places "in real life" and learn where they actually are, and what part they played in the film.  This blog contains a little footage on the building that was the external set of the pizza shop. So take a peek, and please leave a comment to let me know if this at all interesting and whether or not you'd like to see the rest.

Boston Media Makers meeting

I drove up to Boston this morning to attend a meeting of the Boston Media Makers in Jamaica Plain. It was well worth the 1 hr, 40 min drive. I got to meet some very interesting and creative people and we conducted an on-the-spot test of D.C. Dennison's recently acquired "Poor Man's SteadyCam".

If you live in the Boston/New England area, come join in at the next meeting, probably the first Sunday of December.
